Last week, two classes of first grade students from Lafayette Christian School (LCS) started their morning by praying over back packs. These were not any regular back packs; they were filled with food and snacks for students in Troup County School System (TCSS) who were in need of weekend food items.
According to LCS Business Manager Wanda Peterson, each year the school hosts a community work day service project. “We work with the teachers, students, parents and community to arrange designated service projects. This year, the first graders decided to give food items to others in Troup County. The items were donated by families of students that attend Lafayette Christian. We want them (the students) to see and understand the importance of giving back to the community.”
