Recently, the Troup County Board of Education passed a resolution to oppose Amendment One - Opportunity School District (OSD). We are one of many Georgia school boards that has taken this stance. There are several reasons for opposition to this legislation. Some of our employees and community members may not be familiar with OSD, and as a vehicle of information between the school system and public, TCSS has posted resources to help keep you informed.
Amendment One (Opportunity School District or OSD) is a proposal that will be on the ballot November 8. It allows the state to take over schools that have scored 60 or below on the CCRPI for three consecutive years. This new proposed takeover would institute a state plan for those selected schools on the OSD list. TCSS urges you to take a moment and learn what this proposal means to you and the community at large.
