High School Readiness Week

 

High School advisement will be conducted the following week.

TUESDAY, March 14th

Parent High School Informational Meeting (6:00 p.m.)

Dr. Penny Johnson, Director of Secondary Curriculum for Troup County Schools, will be giving a presentation specifically created for parents to outline high school academic requirements and career pathways.  The presentation will be held at 6:00 p.m. in the CMS Cafeteria.  (8th grade students will visit the high school that morning)

 

TUESDAY, March 14th

8th grade Visit to the High School

Students will tour the Callaway High School campus and view presentations containing important information about various student interests such as high school expectations, academic courses, extra-curricular activities, etc.

 

WEDNESDAY, March 15th

High School Graduation Coach

Michelle Nation, the Callaway High School Graduation Coach, will visit our campus to speak with 8th graders about their upcoming 9th grade year.  Her presentation will cover topics specifically geared toward freshman.  It will include an orientation of high school, credits, and some important tips to having a successful first year.

 

THURSDAY, March 16th  

Career, Technical, and Agricultural Education

To help students feel more knowledgeable about elective courses and pathway selection, Callaway High School CTAE teachers will visit our campus and give a presentation that summarizes topics and activities covered in the numerous elective classes.

8th Grade Advisement with High School Counselor

 

Students will meet in the media center during their regularly scheduled social studies class.  Callaway High School counselors will conduct 9th grade advisement with students and assist in course selections for their freshman year. 

 

Class times are listed below.

Parents please attend your child’s advisement session during his/her regularly scheduled social studies class. 

 

2nd - 10:30-11:40   

3rd - 11:40-1:15 

4th - 1:15-2:20 

5th - 2:20-3:25
