Literacy on the Lawn - May 4th

Literacy on the Lawn will be presented by the Troup High Drama Department as their yearly community service project. Participation is open to all Troup County employees, students, and community members. Proceeds will benefit elementary schools in Troup County.
 

 

04/23/19: THINC CEO Announces Retirement; THINC Board Accepting Applications Carlisle

THINC College and Career Academy has met many milestones in its four years of educating students on career opportunities and skills that help them earn jobs locally and globally. Since before the inception, Kathy Carlisle has been on board as the Chief Executive Officer. Now, after five years, Carlisle has announced her retirement.

“This has been such an amazing journey,” said Carlisle. “We’ve had plenty of challenges along the way, but have achieved most everything we set out to accomplish in this short time. I’m especially proud of our students and their successes both in and out of the classroom. Our instructors have provided unrelenting support, knowledge, and education opportunities for our students.”

04/23/19: Communities in Schools Women's Expo @ Callaway High cis

Learning about self-care, health, and wellness was one of the main themes of the Communities in Schools (CIS) Women’s Health Expo at Callaway High School. The inaugural event served as a kick-off for the organizations expansion into Callaway High. CIS currently serves:

  • Berta Weathersbee Elementary
  • Callaway Middle School
  • Gardner Newman Middle School
  • Long Cane Middle School


CIS will become a permanent fixture at Callaway High in the fall. They have touched over 2,700 Troup County School System students by offering services such as academic assistance, behavior intervention, clothing/hygiene closet, and a backpack food pantry program.

04/19/19: Hogansville Students Pedal Forward with Bike Repair Partnership Bike Repair

Pedal Forward and Hogansville Elementary thank the City of Hogansville and their partners for the support of their community efforts. Hogansville City Manager, David Milliron, recently took time to volunteer for the students of Hogansville Elementary as they got their bikes repaired.

04/18/19: Troup High Drama Department Hosts Literacy on the Lawn Lawn

To Morgan Holloway and Grace Braswell, participating in drama classes at Troup High School (THS) is more than just about a grade. Both ladies are leading the charge with teacher sponsor Noel Jordan to bring literacy to the masses of Troup County through the Literacy on the Lawn project.

Events: 5K Zombie Run, 1K Bubble Fun Run, Open Car and Truck Show, Business Expo, Dog Show, Blood Drive, and much more!

Admission: $1 or a school supply item
