02/14/17: Straight Talk Takes Callaway Middle School Students to Atlanta

Callaway Middle Aquarium and MLK Trip
Recently, 29 Callaway Middle School students visited The Georgia Aquarium and The Martin Luther King, Jr. Center for Nonviolent Change in Atlanta. The students are members of a mentoring group called Straight Talk. This program originated out of a need to provide students with life skills outside of the classroom. They build wood projects, participate in school plays, garden, and travel to various locations throughout the state.

At the Aquarium, students were able to see the largest center in the world, while the visit to the MLK Center opened their eyes to new perspectives. They said it gave them a chance to think about the importance of civil rights and peaceful protests while they reflected on some of the most important issues of their time.
