When third-grade teacher, Nicki Freeman had the bright idea of bringing rigor and relevance to her students at West Point Elementary, she knew an interactive project that reached out to others was just the right element to incorporate. That’s when, beginning in October, she asked students to bring new or gently used books to class. The result, around 150 books will be sent to Honduras for the reading enjoyment of students less fortunate.
Freeman stated, “Our new reading curriculum has the class studying how children from other countries access books."
