04/20/2017: THINC Robotics Alliance Wins State Championships, Including First All-Female Team

Students in the Robotics Alliance at THINC College & Career Academy (THINC) recently won first place in four categories at the SkillsUSA Georgia State Championships in Atlanta, Georgia. With this win, they brought home a total of 12 gold medals. Now they will be going on to represent the state in the National Championships in June.

 

A highlight of the event in Atlanta were two THINC students, Savanna Scott and Grace Ingram. They are the first all-female team to win the SkillsUSA High School Mechatronics State Championship. In addition, they will be the first all-female team to compete in the Mechatronics National Championships. During the competition, the duo was required to design, build and troubleshoot various industrial systems, such as mechanical drive systems, electric motor control circuits, and programmable logic controller automated processes.
