For several weeks, many schools have hosted Honors Day to give kudos to students who excel. This year, Ethel W. Kight Elementary hosted the English Speakers of Other Languages (ESOL) Honors Day where 41 English learners in Kindergarten through fifth grades were awarded.
During the ceremony, Ethel W. Kight ESOL teachers Mr. Thomas Moat and Mr. Anton Flores presented each student with their certificates. When Mr. Moat was at the podium, he told the parent and staff attendees, “The relationships I have built with the children have established a lifetime of learning. They learn from me and I learn from them.” In addition, he thanked the parents for their encouragement and help as their students learned to master a new language.
