Public Notice: DISPOSAL OF RECORDS OF EXCEPTIONAL EDUCATION STUDENTS

The Troup County School System and Troup County Archives plan to dispose of these records on or after January 1, 2019. The Troup County School System Department of Exceptional Education announces the intent to destroy Exceptional Education records for students who were born prior to 1995.  Records will be destroyed that were collected, maintained, or used in providing a free appropriate public education for disabled and/or exceptional students in the Troup County School System.  This notice is in compliance with records retention requirements as set forth by the State Records Committee.

Exceptional Education records for students who were born prior to 1995 are no longer needed for educational planning purposes.  These records might, however, be needed by the student or parent for Social Security or other reasons.  If the student or parent would like copies of a student’s Exceptional Education records, please contact the Exceptional Education Records Clerk at 706-812-7939.  The school system will continue to maintain a permanent academic record for each student.  The Troup County Archives serves as the official records repository for the school system.

The Troup County School System and Troup County Archives plan to dispose of these records on or after January 1, 2019.
