Students in Dr. Sue Forrest’s Spanish class at THINC College & Career Academy (THINC) took project-based learning to an elementary level when they visited the students at Ethel W. Kight Elementary School last week. Last school year they were challenged to write a book in English and then translate it to Spanish.
Now, they have been able to get young learners involved. As they entered the English for Speakers of Other Languages (ESOL) classroom, they were excited about reading their personal stories to the students. One student, Haley Rippy, a sophomore at LaGrange High and THINC, enthralled them with a book about volleyball.
