Drawing and Painting is an advanced course, in which students will learn to master a variety of materials and techniques. The first section of the course is drawing, students will learn how to use materials, such as graphite, charcoal, ink, and pastels. Students will be able to identify personal achievement and growth with each project. During the 2nd section, painting, students will learn how to use materials such as, watercolor, acrylic, and oil paint. Students will learn how to build and layer colors in each medium, as well as learn how to prime a canvas.
This course requires a $10 art fee to be paid to Mrs. Chitwood Hale. Once art fee is paid students are loaned out a box full of materials for the course. It is then their responsibility to keep up with their materials and return brushes, pallet, sharpener, and box back to Mrs. Chitwood by the end of the year. There are also sketchbooks specifically for this course. They are half/half drawing and painting paper. They are available for purchase at $5 and are well worth the money! I highly encourage each student to get one of these as a sketchbook is required for the course any way.

This is a fun and great course, but is only for those who want to advance their skills as an artist. Those who think it will be easy and not time consuming, you have been warned!
