SAT School Day – October 10, 2018
Troup High School will administer the SAT on a weekday (October 10, 2018) during the school day to juniors and seniors (this is the same day that the PSAT is given to all sophomores). The SAT is a globally recognized college admission test that's accepted at all U.S. colleges. SAT School Day can have a profound impact for students by opening doors to college, scholarships, and financial aid for every student. Offering the SAT during the school day allows students to test during the school day so they do not have to worry about getting off work or getting a ride to a testing site. It also allows students to take the test in familiar surroundings with people they know which can boost their confidence.
Students wishing to participate inSATSchool Day do not need to register online. Instead they can register at the schoolbeginning July 16th in the front office. There will also be a sign-up table during registration on July 26th. The cost for taking the SAT is $46 and the SAT with Essay is $60.SAT fee waivers are available for qualifying low-income 11th and 12th grade students. To find out if you are eligible for a fee waiver contact Mrs. Snellgrove or your counselor. The SAT offers FREE test practice on Khan Academy (www.khanacademy.org).
Registered students will participate in a pre-administration session before the test. During this session they will:
- Receive student guides so they can learn what to expect on test day.
- Fill out their identifying information early to reduce test administration time and extra test day activities.
- Determine where they will send their four free score reports (colleges and/or scholarship programs).
