01/27/20: Get Troup Reading Summit GTR

Get Troup Reading is hosting their first reading summit next month. The stakeholder group, consisting of over 40 members, met in October to begin planning the event and inviting speakers to share their expertise. They hope to see 200-300 community members in attendance. In addition, the summit is approved by the Georgia Department of Early Care and Learning for four hours of continuing education credits. It is a single session that early learning center employees, and some paraprofessionals who work in the school system, can earn credits by attending the free event.

The summit will be held on Saturday, Feb. 8th at 9:00 am – 2:00 pm and the mini-talks from experts in the subject area are the highlight of the event:

  • Randy Nix – Georgia House of Representatives
  • Judge Michael Key – Judge, Troup County Juvenile Court
  • Arianne Weldon – Director, Get Georgia Reading
  • Dr. Garry McGibony – GaDoE Deputy Supt., Office of School Safety and Climate
  • Dr. Lacey Southerland – Point University Dept. Chair, Child and Youth Development
Survey

Dear Parent/Guardian(s):

Troup County School leaders have contracted with an external evaluation team from Curriculum Management Systems, Inc. (CMSi) to complete a Curriculum Management Audit. The team will be on site February 4-7, 2020.  The audit team will visit schools during that time, and will be conducting interviews during the week. However, the team will not have the opportunity to speak with everyone in the district. We would like to use the following survey to gather input from as many parents as possible. Please take a few minutes to complete this survey so your opinion can be represented.

You can access the survey at the following link:
