05/17/19: School 2 Work Graduates Start Local Jobs Mauser

When Troup County School System (TCSS) seniors toss their graduation caps in the air next week as a culmination to the graduation ceremony, they will be entering the workforce stage of life. It has just gotten easier thanks to the School 2 Work partnership between LaGrange Development Authority and TCSS.

Recently, close to 30 students visited local advanced manufacturing companies because they are looking to go directly to work after graduation. In three days, they were able to see the inner workings of the organizations, meet hiring managers, and interview for available positions where they can graduate on Friday and become a working employee on Monday.

05/15/19: GNMS Student Wins at FFA Competition savannah

Savannah Farrell, an eighth grader at Gardner Newman Middle School, attended the Future Farmers of America Area 3 Awards Ceremony where she received a silver medal for her Livestock Record Book that detailed her work with horses over the past year.

05/13/19: TCSS Parent Engagement Hosts Federal Program Discussion

Recently, TCSS hosted a parent engagement meeting to obtain feedback about federal programs offered within the school system. They also discussed TCSS's mission, vision, values, and system improvement plan. The video highlights the entire discussion. 
 

 

05/07/19: Troup High Valedictorian Wrote The Vision Early Anna Murphy

During a classroom project at Long Cane Middle School, Anna Murphy had to write her short term and long term goals. One of those goals was to become valedictorian. Just a few weeks ago, she was told she met that goal.

05/06/19: LaGrange High Valedictorian is a Hometown Girl Chloe Beall

You can see the Granger pride beaming off of Chloe Beall when she accepted the valedictorian honor at the April Board of Education meeting. She was dressed in Granger blue and insists that, “It’s something that is hard to get rid of. I’ve grown up in LaGrange my whole life so I will always have that Granger pride.”

05/03/19: Juliette Stone - Callaway High School Valedictorian Graduates in Three Years Stone

Juliette Stone wouldn’t necessarily describe herself as a military brat, but she says she did grow up in several areas before coming to Callaway High (CHS) thanks to her mother, Melissa Stewart, being a servicewoman in the military. Now, her mother is a teacher at CHS and was her biggest inspiration throughout her years of learning – which has helped Stone graduate high school in three years.

Join us on a reading adventure this summer that will take you out of this world! The Summer Reading Program for the Troup-Harris Regional Library registration begins May 1st and continues all summer. Register at your library or fill out the form at this link and pick up your reading logs next time you are at the library.

Ebooks for Students

Students have access to ebooks through Follett Destiny Discover.  The ebooks can be viewed at the Destiny Discover website as well as the Destiny Discover app.  Students will need to use their school username and password to checkout the ebooks.  More information can be found under the Media Center tab at the tob of the LCE home page.
