• School Closings/Delays:

Dear Troup County School System Community,

Governor Brian Kemp just issued an Executive Order mandating all schools in Georgia will remain closed for in-person instruction for the remainder of the school year. This includes TCSS.

Please note that current grade calculations will be based upon student mastery of material covered through March 12, 2020 which was the end of the third nine weeks grading period. Student learning will continue after our scheduled Spring Break. We don’t want our kids to lose the valuable knowledge and skills they have gained this school year. Teachers will be contacting their students and working with them to ensure additional opportunities are available for students to demonstrate mastery of previously covered material. More details will be available the week of April 13th.

At this time, we do not have any further updates. We know there are academic milestones and other events that our students and families were looking forward to this year. As updates are available, we will share them.

Over the past several weeks, our commitment to the students and the families of TCSS has been paramount. We will continue this commitment through the closure. Together, we will all get through this.

    Thank you,
    TCSS

Georgia Milestones Practice Exam

Attention Parents & Students: Click here to practice testing!
Welcome to Experience Online Testing Georgia!
This practice site lets students see what testing online is like. Parents and educators are welcome to try it too. The items on the demonstration tests are general and are organized into three grade bands: Grades 3 – 5, Grades 6 – 8, and High School in the content areas of English Language Arts, Mathematics, Science, and Social Studies. The items do not necessarily represent the specific grade-level content that students learn daily in their classrooms. The primary purpose is to let students experience, firsthand, the functionality of the online testing platform. The sample tests are not graded, so have fun!

LHS Advanced Graphic Design Project

At the beginning of the year, Advanced Graphic Design students were presented with a yearlong project. The project involved them gathering information, writing articles, taking photos, and laying out the information in a newsletter template that we created. The students were divided into groups and assigned a CTAE teacher/pathway. We had a friendly competition to develop the masthead for our monthly newsletter.

We are pleased to share with you that our first newsletter which introduces each of the career pathways is attached below. The students have worked hard and we are extremely proud of them and the product they have produced.
