09/17/19: Dr. Johnson Teaches Teaching as a Profession Johnson

This morning, students in LaGrange High School's Teaching as a Profession pathway welcomed a familiar face as guest speaker - Dr. Penny Johnson, Asst. Supt. of Curriculum Instruction and Professional Learning for TCSS.

State Student Council

Congratulations to Gardner Newman Middle students Robert Skinner Jr. (pictured left) and Moses Brown (pictured right) who were selected for the State Student Advisory Council! The advisory council is a group of around 50 high school students from across the state who are selected based on their responses to a variety of questions. They meet three times a year with the state superintendent and serve as liaisons between the Department of Education and the students of Georgia!

Free & Reduced Meals - Extended Eligibility benefits ending 9/23

Each year the federal government allows us to extend eligibility for 30 operating days to families that receive free or reduced meal benefits.  This year the ending date for extended eligibility is 9/23/19.  On 9/24/19, any student whose family has not completed a new Free and Reduced Meal Application and submitted it for processing will become a Paid student.  The affected students will need to begin paying for breakfast and lunch until such time as a Free and Reduced Meal Application has been submitted, processed, and been approved for a change in eligibility benefits.  If the student has not used his or her meal charges, they may receive up to 5 meal charges for lunch only. Please be aware that meal charges are rolled over from one year to the next; if the parent did not pay for meal charges owed at the end of last year or the beginning of this year during enrollment, the student may not have any available meal charges.

If you have any questions, please contact our central Nutrition office at 706-883-1588.
