The Research, Assessment and Accountability (RAA) Department serves as the contact with the state assessment and accountability office.  RAA is primarily responsible for the successful implementation of the statewide student assessment program.  Assessments included in the statewide program are Georgia Kindergarten Inventory of Developing Skills 2.0 (GKIDS 2.0) and GKIDS Readiness Check to monitor Kindergarten student achievement throughout the year; ACCESS and Alternate ACCESS for ELLs to measure language acquisition of English learners K-12th grade; Georgia Alternate Assessment 2.0 which to measure standards mastery of students 3-8th grade and 11th grade with significant cognitive disabilities; and Georgia Milestones End of Grade and End of Course and End of Grade Assessment System to measure mastery of standards of students 3-8th grade English language arts and math as well as 5th grade science, 8th grade science and social studies and selected high school course English, math, science and social studies course.  The department also assists schools with the implementation national assessments when include National Assessment of Educational Progress (when selected), PSAT, ACT and Advanced Placement exams.  

As the accountability contact RAA’s role is to receive communications from the state and monitor accountability requirements specifically regarding the College and Career Ready Performance Index (CCRPI).  CCRPI is Georgia’s tool to measure how well schools are preparing students for the next educational level.  The system’s tool to measure progress at the system level is the continuous system improvement plan (CSIP).  RAA is responsible for the monitoring and updating for the CSIP throughout the school year.

 

RAA supports the system centrally and at the school level in collecting, analyzing and publishing formative and summative data.  The department provides training to schools in the use of data to monitor student progress.
